Teachers should really focus on problem-solving skills

I haven't had a good night's sleep since Monday night because Avery had a stomach bug on Tuesday night, then Eli threw up on Wednesday night.  I forgot what happened Thursday night but let's just say I didn't sleep well.  So now it's almost 7am on Saturday morning and I'm sleeping happily, glad that Eli is still asleep. Until I get a knock on the door and I jump out of bed thinking Uh-oh, now Callie's sick. Only she's not sick but she does have a blanket wrapped around her head like how all the Sunday School pictures show Mary when she's standing in the stable with Joseph, looking down at baby Jesus.  She says she's cold when she does this.  I say she's a nut.
She tells me in a loud whisper (because remember?  Eli is still sleeping.  Which is what I should be doing) there are ANTS!  In the PLAYROOM!  They found a CRUMB!  In the PLAYROOM!  ANTS!  Before I could say anything Avery looks at me and says, " I told her it wasn't something she needed to wake you up for." Does that girl know me or what?  My 5-year-old is my favorite.
So I told them both to wait in their room and went to check it out, expecting a trail of ants on the floor and wall.  Battling ants in the kitchen is bad enough, I really didn't want to find out I'd have to battle them in the playroom, too.
I couldn't find anything. So I got Callie to show me. RIGHT THERE! was a teeny crumb with literally 5 ants on it and a few crawling around nearby on the floor.
REALLY, KID?  You couldn't just knock the ants off, squish them in the carpet, throw the crumb in the toilet, and keep playing with your Barbies?  I totally would have had at least 30 more minutes of sleep and then I would have been happy to vacuum up the squished ants.
Problem solved.  I just wish she would've listened to her little sister for once.
